Subject: re: DPW hearing re: Proposed Evergreen Ave. "sidewalk".
Hi Bob
I understand that DPW will hear comments from Homestead residents re: proposed construction of a "sidewalk" along Evergreen Ave. I'm in favor of the proposal with the following conditions.
1) Marin Horizon School pay at least 75% of the cost as the proposed "sidewalk" serves primarily their daily students as well as special event students and parents who walk to MHS from Miller Ave. The negative impact of MHS traffic on Evergreen Ave, pedestrians was erroneously omitted to be evaluated in the MHS Environmental Impact study paid for by MHS.
2)
The "sidewalk" be 5' wide, edged each side with continuous galvanize metal strips and constructed using decomposed granite and separated from the roadway or on street parking by 6" round 3'-0' high Gal. metal bollards 5'-0" on center.
3) MHS' Traffic Plan be revised to prohibit MHS vehicular use of Evergreen Ave. and require all MHS arriving vehicular traffic to use Montford Ave/Reed and departing traffic to use Laverne- Reed. Prohibit on street parking on Evergreen Ave next to Volunteer Park and MHS traffic use of Scott as shown in MHS' revised MHS Traffic Plan.
1) More than 50% of all traffic in this area is generated by MHS a negative impact not discussed in the biased MHS Environmental Impact Report paid for by MHS. MHS traffic endangers all pedestrian on Evergreen but primarily its on students and parents.
b) Requiring MHS to arrive and depart as recommended in 3) above will significantly reduce MHS traffic on Evergreen Ave. and improve pedestrian safety.
