IF YOU PAINT A WIDE WHITE STRIPE 7 FEET INTO THE RIGHT OF WAY DESIGNATING A CURB LINE AND ANOTHER 7 FEET FURTHER OUT DESIGNATING A 7 FEET WIDE PARKING LANE ALONG ALL OF EVERGREEN PROPERTIES THAT WOULD ILLUSTRATE WHAT THE DPW IS PROPOSING. NO NEED TO PARK CARS OR INCURR ANY LIABILITY FOR ACCIDENTS.

Hi Winston, In regards to your question about the only objection/issue you could foresee would be related to liability if some accident were to occur during an "unofficial test" during the full scale mock-up I requested DPW to conduct for the residents of Homestead? Well...would that be the measure we'd have to take to show that the sidewalk design is or is not the proper design for the street? I don't know what else to ask for at this time! I'm sure if we could look at the minutes for the July 14th meeting for the 6 foot wide sidewalk proposal on Evergreen Ave, there was somebody who asked at least two times will there be a road study survey conducted before the plans are approved...THAT WAS ME! I'm sure you, me and everybody else doesn't want to see an accident happen out of this, and nobody wants to be in an accident! If we let the plans go through and the sidewalk is built, and something like that happens...who's responsable then...is it the County, the school, or is it the residents on Evergreen and in Homestead who just sat comfortably in their houses while the sidewalk was being built. If a full road study survey was conducted along with all necassary environmental impact study reports then we probably would have the best street improvement design and safest route to school possible on Evergreen Avenue! I would've never had to circulate a petition objecting to the ridiculous too wide 6 foot sidewalk plan they proposed to us in July. This whole thing was conducted in the wrong way from the beginning in my opinion and all I'm trying to do is let the County know that the residents want input on the developement of the new street plan for Evergreen Avenue. I hope that clarifies a little more to anybody out there who doesn't understand why I'm asking the County to conduct such a "mock-up" for us. I have not recieved a single response from the County for my efforts (except for the reduction in the sidewalk width of 1 foot). There's still issues that need to be addressed! Sincerly, Keith Garriott
