HAPPY NEW YEAR and MAY HOMESTEAD VALLEY PREVAIL ;-)

I disagree with Keith's below email statement in bold italics.

The County is very effective at doing whatever job Marin Horizon School wants such as imposing it on  the neighborhood contrary to our Tamalpais Area Community Plan Goal #7 that requires it to primarily serve the neighborhood and protecting it from to having to comply with all County on-site parking requirements and MHS' approved Board of Supervisors resolution 2005-104 Environmental Initial Study Appendix B Transportation Management Plan and 2005-105 Condition of Approval 18 that prohibits:
o MHS vehicles from entering the neighborhood on Evergreen;
o Prohibits use of Linden Lane to enter or leave the neighborhood;
o Requires it to have monitors at Melrose & Montford and MHS's driveway;
o Requires MHS vehicles to have identifying "cling" stickers on their windshields.

And the County will reduce the existing roadway width and build sidewalks on Evergreen and Melrose using +/- $200,000 of our tax dollars regardless of the number of neighborhood voices and emails in opposition and the fact that Marin Horizon School is required by Chpt. 19 to  build and pay for the sidewalk in front of MHS. The County is illegally using federal and county funds to aid a private corporation.

MHS  has Supervisor Kinsey's full support and an unethical  Community Development Agency that systematically refuses to require MHS to comply with the very County  ordinances and resolution 2005-104 Environmental Initial Study mitigating action requirements necessary to mitigate MHS' significant impacts on the neighborhood such as:

Fact 1: 59 % of the weekly average of all east/west bound vehicles on Evergreen Ave. in the morning when MHS students are walking to school are MHS vehicles. A significant negative traffic  impact not included in MHS' Environmental Initial Study (EIS) used to gain Board of Supervisors approval. This is the MHS traffic that endangers Evergreen Ave. walkers. Van MHS 1-8 grade walkers and return Evergreen Ave. to its safe, semi-rural preMarin Horizon School days.
Fact 2  Marin Horizon Vehicles are required to have an identifying "cling sticker" on its windshield. Ref. 2005-104 and 2005-105 is not enforced by the County.
Fact 3 58 % of the weekly average of all east/west bound vehicles on Evergreen Ave. in the afternoon when MHS students are walking from school are MHS vehicles . A significant negative traffic impact not included in MHS' Environmental Initial Study (EIS) used to gain Board of Supervisors approval.
Fact 5.  MHS is required by resolution 2005-105 Condition of  Approval 18 to provide 50 temporary special event parking spaces on the "black top".  MHS provides only +/- 25 spaces. Supervisor Kinsey and the Community Development Agency were made aware of  this MHS Use Permit vioaltion in Nov. 2009.
Fact 6. During MHS' April 24, 2010 Earth Day special event approximately 120 MHS vehicles parked on street severely congesting the MHS neighborhood. Ref. Dowling & Associates exam April 24, 2010. A violation of MHS' Use Permit and a significant negative parking impact not included in MHS' Environmental Initial Study (EIS) used to gain Board of Supervisors approval. Supervisor Kinsey and the Community Development Agency will not enforce Section 24.04.335 (a) which  requires all MHS vehicles to park on site not on the neighborhood streets.

SO WE LIVED WITH IT AS  SECOND CLASS HOMESTAD VALLEY TAXPAYIN MARINITES IN 2010 :-(... AND TAX EXEMPT MARIN HORIZON SCHOOL REIGNED .. :-(  BUT FOR HOW LONG ;-)

Yep, that's us...just a bunch of "Crazy Mill Valium's For Ya!" For people who volunteer their extra time watching out for their neighborhood, I'd say we're doing a pretty good job so far! It's just too bad the people who get paid to do these jobs relating to these subjects that we're trying to making amends, don't know how to quite do their jobs effectively. It's also too bad the majority of Homestead residents that I send informative emails to, don't bother to fully read and understand and PARTICIPATE when asked to do so, for reasons to surely accomplish something positive FOR ALL OF US around here for a change, as far as the plans for a sidewalk and so forth. I'm sure a couple of other's trying to help around here can say the same some times. But...we'll keep trying...for what it's worth...I guess? I do appreciate those "Dedicated Homesteaders" who do participate and try to get their concerns heard, so we can continue to enjoy the wonderful and unique neighborhood we all know and love! YOU ARE TRUELY THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR COMMUNITY, AND YOUR DEDICATION IS WELL APPRECIATED! For more information and news about this subject, please visit: http://saveevergreen.blogspot.com/ Wishing everyone a "Safe and Happy New Year!"
